GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Crews began construction Tuesday night on a new pedestrian crossing along Maybank Highway that will add flashing beacons, a center island refuge, and 500 feet of sidewalk — drivers will face intermittent nighttime lane closures, and the project is expected to finish in about two months. WCIV
- ➤ Residents have raised concerns about unsafe e-bike riding after town ordinances clarified speed rules; few officers have enforced the limits on sidewalks. Police now have clearer guidelines and urge locals to use the non-emergency line to report dangerous behavior. WCIV
