- ➤ Greg Johnsman of Marsh Hen Mill led the historic Carolina Gold rice harvest on Wadmalaw Island on Friday, Nov. 7—marking the first such harvest in over 200 years. The 50,000-pound crop was completed despite tropical storm threats and challenging field conditions. The Post and Courier

- ➤ After a CDC advisory panel voted on Dec. 5 to limit the hepatitis B birth shot to babies of untested or infected mothers, Pelican Pediatrics on James Island has received calls from concerned parents & doctors warn that delaying the shot could lead to more infections. The Post and Courier
