- ➤ Charleston Habitat for Humanity hosted a Team Build on November 15 with the Mount Pleasant Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals Group—led by Josh Kramer of Private I Print—that demolished an aging structure to prepare the site for new affordable single-family homes in Mount Pleasant. The work supported a community effort to boost local housing stability amid rising costs. Moultrie News
- ➤ At its Nov. 19 meeting, the Rotary Club of Mount Pleasant hosted Charleston Rotarian Krissy Close, who shared her international career in global health and humanitarian work — including her Peace Corps service and work with NeuroKids. She was honored with an End Polio Now certificate for her commitment to helping children worldwide. Moultrie News

- ➤ 1st Choice A/C, Heating, Plumbing & Gas launched its annual holiday drive, Toys for Tune-Ups, on Nov.20th, offering new residential customers a free HVAC heating maintenance tune-up when they donate at least two new, unwrapped toys, and the campaign will run from Nov.28th until Dec.17th to help local families and support a charity. Owner Tim Myers said the drive pairs an essential service with a charitable act that benefits the community. Moultrie News
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Wando Marching Band completed a historic season by earning the Grand National Finalist honor with an 11th Place finish at Lucas Oil Stadium during Bands of America Grand Nationals held November 13–16—earlier in the season, they won the Carolina Regional Championship and the State Marching Band Championship. The band of 182 student musicians, including many middle schoolers, briefly celebrated on the field and now reflects on a season of hard work and breakthrough achievements. - ➤ The College of Charleston Orchestra, conducted by Yuriy Bekker, will perform its fall concert on Dec 1 at the Sottile Theater—featuring movements from Gustav Holst’s The Planets and a collaboration with the College of Charleston Opera on American classics. Amanda Castellone will lead the opera segment, showcasing student performances of works by Leonard Bernstein and Aaron Copland. Moultrie News

- ➤ On Nov 10, Trident Technical College awarded the Tonya Davis "Digging Deep" Scholarship to five students, including Michael Kenney of Mount Pleasant, with each recipient receiving $1,000 for cybersecurity studies. The scholarship honors former instructor Tonya Davis and required students to submit a one-page flyer on cybersecurity while CEO Ronak Patel pledged ongoing mentorship and $10,000 in annual support. - ➤ The Charleston County School District Board of Trustees finalized a contract that extends Superintendent Anita Huggins' tenure through June 30, 2031. The contract passed with an 8 to 1 vote on November 10 and includes an annual one-year automatic extension and updates to her vehicle allowance. Moultrie News
- ➤ Trident Literacy Association announced Philicia Baugh (Ed.S., HS-BCP) is its new Director of Partnerships. She will work with local businesses, schools and community groups to expand English language classes for adults in the Lowcountry. Moultrie News

- ➤ South Carolina State Parks will waive admission fees at all 47 parks on Black Friday, November 28, and offer free guided hikes along many trails while three historic homes host free tours that visitors can reserve online—encouraging outdoor activity across the state. WCBD
