- ➤ On Nov. 7, Whitesides Elementary School hosted a Patio Popcorn Party to honor eight students who read at least five passport books as part of the new Reading Passport Program (designed for fourth and fifth graders to explore 20 South Carolina Children’s Books Award Nominees). The school will hold another party in February for other students still working on their milestone. Moultrie News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Charleston County Council approved nearly $5 million on Nov. 13 from Transportation Sales Tax for 10 greenbelt projects that will protect more than 1,781 acres in the county. The projects will preserve greenspace, improve wildlife habitats, and help reduce flooding — a key part of the county’s long-running Greenbelt Program. Moultrie News

- ➤ Mount Pleasant’s VEG ER team warns pet owners to keep hazardous foods such as garlic, onions, and turkey bones away from pets during holiday cooking. The team advises that decorations, medications, and travel supplies be stored safely—reducing the chance of emergency vet visits this season. Moultrie News
