COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Coastal Carolina Fair runs through November 9 and offers nightly sea lion shows that bring unpredictable fun — with photo sessions available for a fee — alongside a free petting zoo featuring kangaroos, camels and other animals.  WCBD

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Mount Pleasant Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram held its October 21 grand opening with a ribbon cutting and a celebration that featured facility tours, music, and local business leaders from the Chamber of Commerce along with representatives from Stellantis and Ally Financial. The family-owned dealership now offers vehicle sales and service with a no-pressure buying experience and a three-day exchange policy — pledging support for local charities like Pet Helpers and ECCO.  Moultrie News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Three Charleston restaurants earned a Michelin Star Monday as part of the new American South collection by the Michelin Guide—awarded for excellent flavor and skill. A restaurant in Greenville also received a star while additional local eateries were recognized with Bib Gourmand honors for good food at a fair price.  WCBD

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Today, the South Carolina Department of Education released Charleston County School District’s 2025 report cards showing that over 60 percent of schools earned Good or Excellent ratings—elementary schools led the gains with Sanders-Clyde Creative Arts Elementary earning its first Good rating while district officials plan targeted support for lower-performing schools.  Charleston County School District
  • A new report card from the South Carolina Education Oversight Committee shows that Horry and Darlington counties saw lower rates of chronic absenteeism while Marlboro County saw a rise. The Committee launched the Be Present S.C. campaign in July to improve attendance for the 2025-26 school year as schools depend on enrollment for funding.  WCIV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A federal judge dismissed a complaint by the South Carolina Shrimpers Association on Monday for accusing 40 Charleston-area restaurants of falsely advertising local shrimp+ Judge Gergel ruled the case lacked standing under the Lanham Act and the association said it is reviewing its options.  WCBD
  • Rep. Nancy Mace said she faced repeated security lapses at Charleston International Airport on Oct. 30 and used strong language when no escort met her + she claimed these errors put her safety at risk. She called for a full review and disciplinary action while GOP rivals condemned her behavior as unprofessional.  WCBD
