- ➤ On Thursday the Exchange Club of Charleston hosted a community service day awards luncheon that recognized 73 local nonprofits with nearly $950K in grants earned from over 13,000 labor hours at the Coastal Carolina Fair — the fair will run from Oct. 30 through Nov. 9 and tickets are on sale now. - ➤ On Oct. 15, the Rotary Club of Mount Pleasant welcomed Greg Gwisc as its newest member (with Secretary Kevin Crosby, Past District Gov Lou Mello and President Ken Tallmadge present). Moultrie News

- ➤ Bijan K. Ghom from Saxton & Stump was named to the Charleston Regional Business Journal’s Forty Under 40 list, which honors rising business professionals across the Lowcountry. He is recognized for his legal and business skills gained from launching tech companies and serving his community. Moultrie News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Finance Committee approved two amendments to the Charleston-Colleton Multi-County Industrial Park to add 12 properties—expected to bring $391 million in new capital and 217 jobs from eight companies with relocations or expansions. The council also approved a $200,000 state grant for Shem Creek’s shrimp dock reconstruction and accepted a $100,000 federal grant for a food access project as public input on a potential half-cent sales tax continued. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Local law enforcement and the DEA are partnering with community organizations to host National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on October 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Residents can bring unused prescription tablets, capsules and patches for safe disposal — a step to lower drug misuse risks — or use permanent drop boxes available year-round. - ➤ Dunes Properties announced that the deepwater estate at 202 Bank Street sold for $14,000,000, making it the second-highest priced sale in Mount Pleasant.
