COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Charleston County Parks is hosting the second annual Trick, Treat & Trail Family Fun Run and Festival on October 25 at Wannamaker County Park. Check-in is from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., the fun run begins at 10 a.m. and trick-or-treating continues until 1 p.m.—a costume contest will add extra fun to the event.  Moultrie News
  • At the Rotary Club meeting on Oct. 1, 15 members (including club president Ken Tallmadge, Billy Simmons, and Ed Wyatt) were honored for perfect attendance (a sign of their strong commitment).  Moultrie News
  • Carolina Children’s Charity is hosting the 13th Annual Cornhole Tournament on Oct. 11 at The Windjammer—this event will feature live music and benefit Lowcountry children with birth defects and childhood diseases. Teams of two, who must be 18 or older, will register online before 12:15 p.m. with on-site check-in from 11:30 a.m.  Moultrie News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Palmetto Christian Academy invites prospective students and families to its fall Open House events for campus tours and meetings with staff. The High School event is on October 23 at 6 p.m.—Preschool and Kindergarten on November 5 and Lower and Upper School on November 6 will be offered to showcase the school.  Moultrie News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Charleston Fire Department will kick off Fire Prevention Week tomorrow with a parade starting at 10:00 a.m. at President Street and Fishburne Street and a family safety event at Citadel Mall from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.—the events will teach residents safe practices for using lithium-ion batteries.  Moultrie News

  • Sip & Style launched its first episode where co-hosts Hannah Baker and Claudia Landis talk about fall events and forecast fashion trends in the Lowcountry. Next week on October 8th, the show will cover the Riverfront Revival music festival and local fall-themed coffees.  WCBD

  • Australian Open champion Madison Keys, ranked No. 6, will return to the Credit One Charleston Open for the 13th year on Daniel Island, scheduled from March 28, 2026 to April 5, 2026. The tournament will offer equal prize money for the first time & mark the beginning of the WTA clay season.  WCIV
