- ➤ The Charleston County Sheriff's Office will host National Night Out on Tuesday, Oct 7 from 4:30–7 p.m. at The Bend at 3775 Azalea Drive in North Charleston—community members will enjoy live demonstrations, giveaways, music and food. WCIV
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Stuart Whiteside, co-founder of SeamonWhiteside who helped grow I'on Community and Town Centre in Mount Pleasant, will retire in November after a 40-year career that guided his firm through the 2008 crisis and COVID-19 — he plans to spend more time traveling with his wife, visiting his grandchildren, and playing golf. - ➤ An AT&T spokesperson confirmed Tuesday that a broadband outage in Charleston affected customers after a third-party fiber cut—impacted areas include West Ashley, Johns Island, Mount Pleasant and Isle of Palms, and no schedule for repairs was provided. WCIV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities is now accepting applications for the 2026-2027 school year and summer programs from students in grades 6 to 11, with a Jan. 10 deadline—financial help is available. The school will also host Go Govie! Day on Nov. 1 and Jan. 10—where families can tour the campus and view arts demonstrations. Moultrie News
- ➤ North Charleston Mayor Reggie Burgess served as principal for the day at R.B. Stall High School in Charleston County—he filled in on September 30. The Post and Courier
