- ➤ On Sept. 25, the Harbor Entrepreneur Center expanded its Mount Pleasant headquarters by signing a long-term lease at 11 eWall Street that added 20,000 square feet of office space—boosting affordable opportunities for local entrepreneurs and small businesses. The expansion has helped create over 150 jobs and house more than 100 companies since relocating in 2023. Moultrie News
- ➤ Breeze Airways will launch its first nonstop flight from Charleston International Airport to Cancun International Airport in January 2026—introductory fares start at $119 one way. The weekly service will mark the airline’s first international route—boosting regional tourism and offering a new travel option. WCBD

- ➤ The Military Magnet Academy Foundation was featured on Palmetto Life today with Col. Joseph Dawson, Dr. Barbara Dilligard—two original founders—and Assistant Principal Singleton who discussed the school’s work to build leadership and academic excellence. The segment also announced a Gala on October 11 to raise funds for student scholarships and programs. Charleston County School District
- ➤ Lowcountry Etiquette released French Fries and Thank You— a guide to making manners fun for children. The book, co-authored by Beverly Sumner and her daughters, continues a family tradition that began in Rock Hill in 1967 and is available in local stores and online. Moultrie News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Charleston County Council launched a new public input process to gather feedback on future transportation and green space projects funded by a half-cent sales tax—county leaders will host public meetings, stakeholder sessions and an online survey to guide plans for an estimated $4.25 billion investment over the next 25 years. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Trident Medical Center held a groundbreaking event on Sept. 25, 10:45 a.m. at 3075 Maybank Hwy to start building Johns Island ER, the island’s first emergency facility. Construction will take 11 months — the new center will have 11 patient rooms, including a trauma room, labs and telemedicine services for both adults and children. Moultrie News
- ➤ Several Lowcountry groups and law enforcement agencies distributed free naloxone kits on Thursday to help prevent overdose deaths in the community. Wakeup Carolina provided kits in Mount Pleasant from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. — other partners offered kits at designated sites in North Charleston and Charleston. WCIV
