- ➤ Boone Hall’s 29th annual pumpkin patch and corn maze opens every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from September 26 to October 26—featuring a tractor tour, petting zoo, and pig races while tickets cost $15 for ages 3 and up and free for children under 2. WCIV
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Chef Anthony Marini’s Italian sandwich shop The Pass will open its second location in Mount Pleasant this fall at Northcutt Plaza on the corner of Houston Northcutt Boulevard and West Coleman Boulevard next to La Pizzeria. The 1,100-square-foot restaurant will offer a similar menu to its downtown shop with added wine and beer selections and will expand catering and delivery options. Moultrie News

- ➤ Fall festivities begin in the Lowcountry as Boonehall Plantation in Mount Pleasant will host a pumpkin patch, corn maze and a pumpkin guts competition on Friday, Sept 26. In addition, Charleston will offer walking tours beginning Oct 1 and the MOJA Arts Festival returns on Sept 25—featuring street parades, block parties and art shows for families. WCBD

- ➤ Today, The Citadel was named the Best Regional University in the South by US News and World Report for the second year and was recognized as the Best Public University in the South for the 15th year; it was selected from over 100 schools across 12 states. Its strong programs in engineering, business, and computer science earned national placements—showing the dedication of its cadets, faculty, and staff. WCBD
- ➤ Charleston County School District’s expanded employee childcare program (started in 2021) quickly filled its slots at Charleston Progressive Academy and now helps teachers lower daycare costs. The program has added a Mount Pleasant site (Laurel Hill Primary) and district leaders plan to expand it to more locations over the next few years. Charleston County School District

- ➤ Governor Henry McMaster attended a Volvo celebration Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Ridgeville to mark the company’s 70-year milestone in the United States and 10 years of production in South Carolina—company leaders highlighted local workforce and supplier support as key factors— and the event underscored a strong business environment. - ➤ The Pet Tales episode features the Charleston Area Therapeutic Riding Community where executive director Colleen Trepen and philanthropy director Grace Ryan explain how horses transform lives through therapeutic connections — the program hosted by Carolyn Murray airs every Friday at 3:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on the News 2 WCBD streaming app. WCBD
- ➤ The American Heart Association celebrated Lowcountry schools and students for exceptional fundraising in the 2024-25 Kids Heart Challenge. Lackland from MUSC will receive the Population Research Prize at the American Heart Association’s Scientific Sessions in New Orleans from Nov. 7 to Nov. 10—he is set to be honored on Nov. 9 and his work on high blood pressure and stroke has shaped treatment guidelines.
