- ➤ Local restaurants are buying local seafood despite higher costs to support nearby shrimpers—Acme Lowcountry Kitchen on Isle of Palms paid $150,000 for 20,000 to 30,000 pounds of shrimp so they have it available all year. Some Mount Pleasant eateries also order shrimp regularly to feature it as a special menu item. WCBD

- ➤ Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations will take place across the Lowcountry with community events including an environmental cleanup at Lake Moultrie on September 20th and a Tropical Fiesta in Mount Pleasant on September 28th—other activities will offer music, dance and educational programs to support local immigrant families. - ➤ Mark Anders, a retiree in Ravenel, found hundreds of relics using his metal detector on the Poplar Grove land—items include a musket, buttons from Washington’s army, and more. He plans to donate the relics for display in Southeastern’s new office that will open by the end of the year—preserving the local history. The Post and Courier

- ➤ On September 16, Charleston County School District earned an AA+ credit rating from S&P Global Ratings & showed strong financial management with stable reserves and improved budgeting. Officials said the upgrade, which matches Greenville County School District’s rating, reflects a commitment to careful fiscal discipline and positions the district for a steady future. - ➤ This fall, students who finish Trident Technical College's 26-credit Aircraft Assembly Technology certificate will be eligible for Boeing Pre-Employment Training status for entry-level mechanic positions at Boeing South Carolina—this program lets them bypass the normal interview process and prepares them for job opportunities as Boeing expands its facilities to create over 500 new jobs.
