- ➤ Residents in the Oaks at Marshview neighborhood say a speeding car nearly hit a woman pushing a stroller and now call for speed bumps to slow traffic—officials reported that Jack Randles fled the scene but was later charged with reckless driving and driving under suspension. WCBD
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ CCSD launched a new Student-Athlete Spotlight—new for the 2025-2026 school year—that featured Academic Magnet’s Sam Peters, who made two interceptions that turned into touchdowns on September 3 in a win over Patrick Henry Academy, and Isa Jickling—state champion and four-year varsity swimmer—nominated from school recommendations. - ➤ Rock N Roll Rescue will donate six brand-new instruments to Baptist Hill Middle and High School students on Friday, September 12 at 8:30 a.m.—the event is held at 5117 Baptist Hill Road and media are invited to attend. The donation, guided by Charleston County School District, includes instruments valued at $2,845 and plans further donations in 2026. Charleston County School District
- ➤ Charleston County School District announced that every school has been adopted by community partners through the LOCAL program—launched in February to connect schools with local organizations for mentorship, resources, and volunteer support. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ MUSC College of Nursing launched the Center of Excellence in Behavioral Health Nursing to meet the growing need for trained mental health care professionals. The center will use telepsychiatry — new care models and specialized training to serve underserved communities. Moultrie News

- ➤ A recent study by Beach.com used AI to analyze 1,060 Instagram photos in Charleston and found that 606 photos showed clear smiles—giving the town a happiness index of 54, the highest among 100 small beach towns. Mount Pleasant placed second with an index of 50.2. WCBD
