  • On Aug. 31, an employee at Blue Coastal Bar and Grill found a broken side door, a missing safe with cash and liquor, and police processed the scene at 1905 Highway 41—collecting fingerprints and reviewing a 14-second video that showed a man with a distinct walk who resembled a former employee fired in April while additional footage linked a white Toyota Camry to the incident.  Moultrie News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Invasive Joro Spiders will appear this fall in our area and may be found near porches and landscaped areas — experts say the yellow spiders rarely bite but could outcompete native species. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Mount Pleasant Town Council candidate Alex Crosby, a local resident for nearly 20 years who runs Crosby Insurance Group, outlined his concerns about traffic, affordability and the loss of tree canopy ahead of Election Day 2025 in a nine-candidate race for four seats. In a Q&A with Moultrie News, he detailed his plans to improve roads and ease flooding — steps that link his local roots — as he aims to keep our town’s small-town feel intact.  Moultrie News

HEALTH NEWS

  • During a Sunday night game, the Charleston RiverDogs presented a $100,000 check to MUSC Children's Hospital to fund new equipment and programs for patients and families. The donation is the team's largest to date and continues a six-year relationship with the hospital.  WCBD
