- ➤ On Tuesday, the Palmetto Hope Network opened the Lowcountry's newest domestic violence shelter. The 4000 sq ft facility had five bedrooms with seven beds, two full bathrooms and two offices with an extra bathroom—helping survivors connect to support services. WCBD
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ At a Board of Trustees meeting on August 25, CCSD honored staff and students for achievements in classroom innovation, school health, and service. Bill Joy was named a Teacher Fellow, Northwoods Middle was recognized as one of America’s Healthiest Schools, three R.B. Stall High students earned full scholarships, and the Finance team along with IT director Judy Wyndham received awards—each recognition shows the district’s commitment to excellence. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Councilmember and mayor pro-tem Justin Novak announced his bid for a second term on Sullivan's Island and said he will continue improving services and preserving the town's character—he highlighted work on a new administrator and enhanced community input. Novak will run in the Nov. 4 election and aims to secure funds for further infrastructure upgrades. Moultrie News

- ➤ Occupational Therapist Marissa Barth at East Cooper Medical Center said staying active builds strength and eases daily tasks, recommending exercises like mini squats at local senior centers—resident Pete Miless reported improvements in mobility after starting therapy following a lung cancer diagnosis and plans to continue his exercise routine at home. - ➤ Patients at MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital got a special treat Tuesday morning to celebrate National Dog Day when Dunkin' held a Paw-lates event—where patients and caregivers stretched with therapy dog Baskin and Dunkin' mascot Sprinkles joined the activity. Afterward, patients decorated doughnuts as part of Dunkin’ Dogs for Joy, a program that supports therapy dogs in hospitals. WCIV
- ➤ On Tuesday, the Lowcountry Food Bank received a $10,000 donation from the TD Charitable Foundation to support its Food for Health program—buying nutritious food for people facing medical challenges and food insecurity. WCIV
