  • East Cooper Meals on Wheels has served the community for 40 years by delivering about 300 meals daily across the Lowcountry and building strong ties with its clients. The organization honored its volunteers with a special luncheon and unveiled a new slogan — Meals on Wheels Feeding Friends, Five Communities, One Table — as it asks for more donations and volunteers to help those in need.  WCBD

  • A Lowcountry man won a record $811,000 in the South Carolina Education Lottery Pick 4 drawing on Aug. 7 at Towne Centre Market in Mount Pleasant—he spent $339 on 162 tickets using his intuition with the number sequence 1-7-3-1.  WCIV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette spoke at Mount Pleasant’s Chamber luncheon at Omar Shrine Temple on Aug. 21, discussing youth employment issues and the new WINS program—an initiative offering scholarships to fill skill gaps. She also outlined plans to create a job platform for small businesses and raised concerns over worker shortages affecting local services.  Moultrie News

  • Dr. Maggie Evans from Novant Health on Daniel Island said many women face menopause in different ways, with symptoms starting in the early forties or lasting for years—she urged women to talk with their doctor about treatment options for hot flashes, night sweats, and other issues.
