- ➤ The Kiawah Conservancy is asking volunteers to help harvest sweetgrass at a Johns Island farm on an August morning and on Sept. 11 from 7 to 9 a.m. Volunteers will get farm details and join distribution events at Mt. Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park on Aug. 24 from 3 to 4 p.m. and Sept. 11 from noon to 2 p.m.—a key effort to support traditional basketmaking. WCBD

- ➤ Causey's Barber Shop, a family-owned business on Ben Sawyer Road, is celebrating its 60th anniversary on Sept. 1—marking six decades of service and community legacy in Mount Pleasant. The shop will run a customer appreciation raffle and plans to expand its services to other areas soon. Moultrie News

- ➤ Charleston Wine + Food opened limited pre-sale tickets on Aug 21 at 11 a.m. for its 2026 Culinary Village at The Citadel’s Johnson Hagood Stadium to celebrate its 20th anniversary with chef demos, live music, and tasting experiences. Locals can purchase day tickets for the special event on March 8—VIP tickets will launch from Oct 23 with general admission priced at $185. WCIV
- ➤ Tim Rogers of Charleston Stage spoke at the Rotary Club of Mount Pleasant on Aug. 13 to preview the upcoming 48th season at Dock Street Theater, which begins with The Sound of Music on Sept. 3 and runs through May. He detailed future shows — Dial M for Murder, A Christmas Carol, Sense and Sensibility, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Dragons Love Tacos, and Come From Away — and highlighted the company’s education programs for local students. - ➤ The Post and Courier will launch a new Journalism Preservation Society in September with a speaker series called Charleston Porch Talks — the first event will feature bestselling author Elin Hilderbrand at the College of Charleston’s Sottile Theatre in downtown Charleston, and a second event with bestselling author Craig Johnson is set for Sept. 30. Ticket sales begin on Aug. 27 and all profits will support the newspaper’s Public Service and Investigative Fund. The Post and Courier
