  • Mount Pleasant Automotive Management Group purchased Galeana Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram on July 28 and rebranded it as Mount Pleasant Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, which opened immediately at the corner of Highway 17 and Carolina Park Boulevard. Operating partner Tyler Letson said the dealership will offer a transparent—customer-first sales and service model with a 3-Day Vehicle Exchange Program and free car washes for life as it plans to expand the staff and support local groups.  Moultrie News

CRIME NEWS

  • The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office will host a free trailer stamping event Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at its law enforcement center to help residents protect their trailers and other equipment—bring your trailer and proof of ownership as deputies offer theft prevention tips.  WCIV

  • Lucy Beckham High School announced that financial literacy teacher William “Bill” Joy was named as one of eight inaugural Teacher Fellows for the Foundation for Economic Education on Aug 6—he will work with the FEE Learning Center to lead workshops and develop new curriculum.  Charleston County School District

  • South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson warned parents to talk with their children about online threats as school starts — emphasizing that predators, violent content, and dangerous drugs like fentanyl present a serious risk that must be closely monitored.  WCIV

  • During National Wellness Month, the American Red Cross urges Lowcountry residents to donate blood or platelets—especially those with O positive and B negative—to help meet the growing demand, and they will offer free A1C screenings with each successful donation.   • Charleston native Trey Pooser made his Single-A debut on Aug. 5 and pitched four shutout innings in a 7-0 win over the Augusta GreenJackets, ending the RiverDogs’ four-game losing streak.
