During a 10-day event, 2,416 dogs and cats were adopted from 91 shelters and rescue groups across South Carolina.

A 23-year-old man was sentenced to 10 years in prison for brutally beating his girlfriend during an April 3, 2022 incident on Maybank Highway after heavy drinking and a suspected infidelity argument led him to crush a glass, strangle her, and threaten her with a knife—he was convicted on charges of assault and battery, kidnapping, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Coast Guard Sector Charleston welcomed new commander Capt. Shawn Lansing, replacing outgoing Capt. Frank DelRosso—who had 36 years of service—at a ceremony on Friday morning.
