- ➤ St. James-Santee Elementary Middle School received the Green Flag Level Certification from the National Wildlife Federation Eco-Conscious Project on Jul 16, becoming the first school in South Carolina to earn the honor & Congresswoman Nancy Mace sent a congratulatory letter to Principal LaCarma McMillan praising the school’s work to conserve the Lowcountry environment. - ➤ On July 16, 2025, four Academic Magnet High School graduates were named winners of college-sponsored National Merit Scholarships—William C. Brodsky II, Emma Q. Fang, Julian M. Gillum, and Beatrice J. Vaught. They joined nearly 800 other recipients and are among 14 Charleston County seniors who received awards of $500 to $2,000 per year for up to four years—supporting their future college studies. - ➤ Lucy Beckham and Wando High Schools each earned the prestigious Carlisle Cup on July 16 from the South Carolina Athletic Administrators Association based on state playoff points.
