- ➤ The Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission invites community members with disabilities to the Inclusive Prom on Aug. 9 from 5-7 p.m. at the Mount Pleasant Town Hall Gym at 100 Ann Edwards Lane; participants must register by calling 843-795-4386 with early registration set at $4 per person while chaperones attend free. - ➤ Aldi will open its second Mount Pleasant store at 3135 N. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Moultrie Middle School will require students to register e-bikes at the start of the school year so that staff can use school-issued stickers to quickly identify whether a ride is a bike, e-bike or moped—this effort aims to promote safe riding and ensure compliance with state laws. Local council members and the county school district are also working to update town rules to allow citations for unsafe riding and adjust speed limits for e-bikes. WCBD
- ➤ Charleston County School District announced that Sharon Randall was named principal at Morningside Middle School on July 7 — she brings over 30 years of education experience, including roles at Cario, Camp Road, and as assistant principal at East Cooper Center for Advanced Studies — and her appointment is expected to strengthen school leadership. - ➤ Charleston County School District announced on July 7 that it is forming Elevation Schools, a group of 14 elementary schools that will get extra support and resources starting in the 2025 to 2026 school year.
