- ➤ A tropical depression off our coast strengthened into Tropical Storm Chantal Saturday morning — a Tropical Storm Warning now covers areas from the South Santee River to Cape Fear. The storm is expected to move across the South Carolina coast today and may strengthen before making landfall. WCIV
- ➤ A tropical depression off the South Carolina coast was upgraded early Saturday to Tropical Storm Chantal, which brought heavy rain, gusty wind, and dangerous surf to the Charleston area—residents can view live conditions on cameras from Isle of Palms to Edisto Beach. WCBD
