ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On Thursday evening, a boating incident under the low-clearance Highway 17 bridge at Tea Farm Creek resulted in one person dying after striking their head—officials from the Department of Natural Resources and Charleston County Sheriff's Office said the case is under investigation. WCIV
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A 17-year-old was arrested Thursday night after a shooting near Rutledge Avenue and Peachtree Street in Charleston when officers found him hiding under a porch, and he now faces charges including attempted murder and multiple firearm offenses as well as armed robbery and assault in a separate June 14 shooting (investigators noted the suspect and victim knew each other) while both cases remain under investigation. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Charleston Waterkeeper warned locals to check water quality before the holiday weekend as tests showed high bacteria levels in some waterways. The organization found Shem Creek and James Island Creek tested high while Folly River and Sullivan's Island remained clean—local governments have taken steps to improve water safety. WCIV
- ➤ Thomas and Hutton received two Project of the Year Awards from the South Carolina Chapter of the American Public Works Association for its Isle of Palms stormwater outfall improvements and Forest Acres drainage upgrades in Charleston.
