  • Etto Leisure Cars helps Charleston families follow a new law that requires children under 12 to wear seatbelts in golf carts — the company offers luxury vehicles like the Club Car Onward LSV that exceed basic safety rules. General Manager Paul Streaman said his team is committed to keeping families safe as they choose their leisure cars.  Moultrie News

CRIME NEWS

  • A local shopper reported his green 1997 Ford F-150 pickup truck was stolen from the CVS parking lot on N. Hwy. 17 on June 9 at about 3:23 p.m. when he picked up medications and left his keys inside, and Charleston County police patrolled the area but found no clues.  Moultrie News
  • Mount Pleasant officers stopped a 2021 white Jeep on N. Hwy. 17 at 10:23 p.m. on June 9 after seeing it swerve across lanes—and they charged the 23-year-old driver with DUI 1st after he failed field sobriety tests and recorded a .18 percent BAC.  Moultrie News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Charleston County School District Board approved a plan to reassign responsibilities once managed by now-dissolved constituent boards for tasks such as student transfers and discipline. The plan, approved Monday night, creates a new process for disciplinary hearings and adds two panels—each including one current or former administrator, one classified administrator, and one community member—that will report directly to the superintendent.  WCBD

HEALTH NEWS

  • Two MUSC professors from a Mount Pleasant biotech firm are testing a new cancer treatment at MUSC Hollings Cancer that uses white blood cells to attack tumors. In a Phase 1 trial, nine out of 12 patients were cancer-free after 30 days + 14 patients have been treated so far as the study checks safety and lowers treatment costs.  Moultrie News
