- ➤ Gas prices statewide fell nearly 19 cents per gallon last week, with GasBuddy recording an average of $3.85 from a survey of 3,028 stations + officials warn prices may rise if oil costs increase. WCIV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Galen College of Nursing is opening enrollment at its new Daniel Island campus at 215 Benefit Focus Way to ease the local nursing shortage, with classes for the ADN program starting July 6. Moultrie News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Charleston County officials told Mount Pleasant Town Council that the Highway 41 Improvement Project will have construction bids advertised in September if permits and right-of-way issues are resolved. The project will ease traffic and add pedestrian and bicycle paths, with construction expected to begin by year-end. WCIV
- ➤ Mount Pleasant officials discussed Shem Creek parking problems today as summer visitors and workers face challenges with paid and unclear parking options. Council members plan to meet with restaurant owners & review property titles to decide if free parking or reimbursements should be provided. WCIV
- ➤ The state legislature will review new kratom rules when it reconvenes (next January). Several South Carolinians testified about the drug's benefits and risks, fueling debate over whether tighter restrictions or a ban will follow. The Post and Courier

- ➤ The James Island Charter Trojans clinched their state baseball title after shutting out Dorman, 5-0, in the deciding game of the SCHSL Series at River Bluff High School.
