- ➤ St. James-Santee Elementary-Middle School earned the Green Flag level certification from the National Wildlife Federation EcoSchools U.S. program, making it the first school in South Carolina to get the award. The school used its location next to the Francis Marion National Forest to inspire eco-friendly projects and events—such as scavenger hunts and art contests—led by both students and staff. - ➤ Google is partnering with Arable to help replenish groundwater in the Edisto-Santee River Basin by using a crop intelligence platform to aid farmers; the project will fund technology on 20,000 acres in South and North Carolina—potentially saving over 500 million gallons of water each year over eight years as it works to use more water than it consumes by 2030.
