  • Mount Pleasant Towne Centre will host Play Dayz, a free monthly morning event that offers arts and crafts, face painting, balloon animals, snacks and more for children ages 10 and younger. The events will run from 10 a.m. to noon at The Oaks (across from Barnes & Noble) on the first Tuesday of each month, with dates including June 3, July 1, Aug. 5 and Sept. 2 and no advance registration required.  Moultrie News

CRIME NEWS

  • Lucas Mortins, a 21-year-old man from Summerville, died at an area hospital after he was stabbed on May 25 — the Berkeley County Coroner's Office said the incident on Harbor Lake Drive in Goose Creek occurred around 6:15 a.m. and is being investigated as a homicide.  The Post and Courier

ECONOMY NEWS

  • GasBuddy reported that gas prices in South Carolina held steady at $2.70 per gallon over the busy Memorial Day holiday—this rate marks the cheapest since 2021 and reflects a slight decline from both a month and a year ago.  WCIV

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Efforts to clear abandoned boats from the South Carolina coast continue as environmental groups like Wounded Nature Working Veterans have removed over 200 vessels, while state Rep. Thomas Hartnett Jr. estimates between 80 and 100 remain between Little River and the Savannah River — cleanup will cost around $7 million but faces funding hurdles. Tour participants, including staffers for Representative Nancy Mace and Senator Tim Scott, observed the hazardous conditions at key sites along local waterways.  WCIV
