  • The Historic Charleston Foundation hosted its free Spring Advocacy Forum yesterday at The Charleston Museum from 6 to 7:30 p.m. where Charleston Mayor William Cogswell and expert panelists discussed transportation, urban design, resilience, and housing topics (advance registration was required).  WCIV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The SC Legislature approved a bill on May 14 that will allow Trident Technical College (TTC) to offer a four-year Applied Baccalaureate in Culinary Arts Management degree as local industry partners identified a workforce need. The upcoming program will create seamless pathways from associates to bachelor's degrees.  Moultrie News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Mount Pleasant Mayor Will Haynie said businesses along Shem Creek will keep their dock rules while he talks with state and county agencies to boost on-water safety after last month's fatal boat crash. He is considering a law enforcement plan ahead of the busy summer season.  WCIV

SPORTS NEWS

  • Wando High School won the boys’ state track and field meet on May 14 in Columbia by edging Ridge View 84-78. Junior Dylan Carey won gold in the 400-meter dash in 47.44 seconds, giving the Warriors their first title since 2018 and marking the fourth team championship in program history.  Charleston County School District
  • After winning Friday’s game to keep their season alive, the Stingrays ended their campaign with a 3-1 loss to the Everblades on Sunday night at the North Charleston Coliseum—solid goaltending kept the score tied until a late empty-net goal gave the visitors the win.  WCIV
