- ➤ Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission and Charleston County Parks Foundation are hosting the first Genesis Swim-A-Thon tomorrow at the West County Aquatic Center in Hollywood to raise funds for water safety programs—created after 13-year-old Genesis Holmes drowned. Swimmers will have two hours to complete up to 200 lengths while the pool also opens for the Summer season on May 17, operating on weekends until May 25 and daily from May 30 to Aug. 10. WCIV

- ➤ Janet Crouch, a salon artist from Mount Pleasant working in West Ashley, was fatally shot in her home on May 11 after a potted orchid delivery led to a violent break-in; police later arrested Jean Irene Lesperance and Jacinda Francesca Trader—who now face murder and weapon-related charges. The Post and Courier
- ➤ On Mother's Day, 37-year-old stylist Janet Crouch was fatally shot in her West Ashley home, and family plus friends remember her for her creative spirit, care for her 12-year-old son, and success at Vanity Salon in Mount Pleasant. WCIV

- ➤ Mount Pleasant Town Council voted to reexamine zoning changes from May 1 that raised height limits and lot coverage rules after residents voiced concern about out-of-scale accessory structures in legacy neighborhoods.
