- ➤ A single blue light glowed Monday in Charleston County Fallen Officer Memorial Garden to mark the 58th anniversary of Patrolman James Owens’ death. The memorial at Rutledge Avenue and Calhoun Street honored the officer (one of the first Black members of the department) who was shot in 1968. WCIV

- ➤ Country artist Brian Kelley will headline the America250 Summer Kickoff Concert on May 29 from 7 to 9 p.m. on the USS Yorktown flight deck at Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum as part of the three-day SFC Carrier Cup presented by Huk. Moultrie News

- ➤ Gas prices in South Carolina have jumped by 13.3 cents per gallon over the past week (the average is now $4.11), meaning local drivers in Mount Pleasant may pay up to $4.99 per gallon as rates vary widely statewide. WCIV

- ➤ Mount Pleasant has invited firms to study redeveloping the Long Point Road corridor between the Long Point Road Interchange and the Wando River into a creative innovation hub.
