- ➤ State Sen. Ed Sutton said lawmakers reached a compromise on liquor liability laws when the Senate approved the bill 41 to 1 yesterday to ease insurance burdens for bars and restaurants—local hotels and veteran clubs can cut premiums if they close before midnight or sell less than 40% alcohol and if servers complete special training. - ➤ At the Mount Pleasant Planning Committee meeting, Old Village residents urged the town to curb building heights after the Town Code revision on May 1 raised accessory structure limits from 20 feet to 25 feet—residents said the changes threaten neighborhood privacy and the historic character of the area.
