- ➤ A Florida man was sentenced to nine years in federal prison for orchestrating an alleged retail fraud scheme in Charleston and was ordered to pay over $1.1 million in restitution—he was arrested in July 2024 after investigators uncovered a multi-state effort to defraud home improvement stores. - ➤ The International African American Museum will host its Jubilee Soiree on June 21—an annual fundraising gala celebrating a century of Black Beauty from 1925 to 2025 with live entertainment, special guests, a live auction, and more. Annual member pre-sales start May 1 as general admission tickets go on sale May 5 and proceeds will support future exhibitions, educational programs, and community outreach. WCIV

- ➤ Angie Greene—school counselor at James Simons Montessori School—will retire this year after 40 years of service, and a district reception later will honor all retiring educators.
