- ➤ The Blue Angels will fly over Charleston Harbor on May 2 from 1 to 3 p.m., causing road and harbor restrictions through that day while a 161-foot ($26M) yacht remains docked at Seabreeze Marina after its international tour. The Post and Courier

- ➤ Ahead of tomorrow's Kentucky Derby, a look at Secretariat’s ties to the Palmetto State spotlights trainer Lucien Laurin, who lived in Santee and ran a winter training center in Holly Hill — local groom Eddie Sweat is honored for his deep bond with the legendary racehorse. The Post and Courier
- ➤ Bob Bisaccia, a New York crooner who recently moved to Mount Pleasant with his wife (Gloria), is set to perform at Seacoast Church on May 14 in a noontime show that kicks off his Lowcountry comeback tour at senior centers, clubs, and churches. Moultrie News

- ➤ Charleston County School District was named a Best Community for Music Education by The NAMM Foundation for the second year, making it one of seven South Carolina districts honored (all three tri-county districts received this recognition). Charleston County School District
- ➤ At the April 27 board meeting, CCSD honored students, staff, and community partners by recognizing standout achievements including selection to the first-ever SCBDA All-State Middle School Jazz Ensemble, an essay contest win, and a state wrestling championship. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Mount Pleasant is asking residents for input on traffic and pedestrian projects funded by a $15.78M grant, with improvements including medians, traffic lights, shared-use paths and crosswalk signals. Residents may submit feedback online after a recent in-person meeting — construction may begin in six to 10 months. WCIV
- ➤ A Charleston-based reparations task force is asking for more than 7,000 acres of land from Boone Hall, Magnolia and Middleton plantations to benefit the Gullah Geechee community. The proposal—focused on economic development and historical accountability—has reignited discussions in the Lowcountry. WCIV
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The eighth annual Special Olympics Bandana Tournament will happen on May 23 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Mount Pleasant Tennis Complex.
