Gas prices in South Carolina rose by 4.7 cents per gallon—ending weeks of decline—and averaged $2.72 per gallon on Monday based on GasBuddy’s survey of 3,028 stations.

The Mount Pleasant Library is temporarily closed starting April 28 for scheduled maintenance—expected to last three to five days—and its online database remains available.

The S.C. Sea Grant Consortium will host the Commercial Seafood Apprenticeship Program in historic McClellanville from May 5 to May 30 — training 11 apprentices selected from 70 applicants to learn marine skills.

The program will offer certifications and a $1000 stipend for each graduate — and will cover room, board, gear and course materials to boost the local seafood industry.

Middle Street by Alhambra Hall is closed for parking improvements from April 28 until May 2—town officials said detour signs will guide traffic around the work zone.

The closure affects only the section in front of the hall, with the road owned by SCDOT.
