- ➤ Charleston County School District Superintendent Anita Huggins spoke at the Mount Pleasant Chamber of Commerce Luncheon on April 23 to detail plans that will help all students read on grade level by the end of elementary school. Her remarks explained that the Vision 2027 initiative has boosted reading progress for Black and brown students and noted an $850,000 funding package for Wando High School — set to assist those facing poverty, special needs, and English learning challenges.
