- ➤ Officials ask residents to report suspected yellow-legged hornets (with photos) after a nest was found in York County; over 4,200 traps have been deployed statewide since the insect first appeared near Bluffton in November 2023 to protect local honeybee populations. WCIV
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Dr. Ben Strickland at MUSC Hollings Cancer Center received an American Cancer Society grant to develop a new immunotherapy for glioblastoma by reprogramming macrophages (instead of usual T-cells) to target tumors; he will begin testing in human patients later this year. Moultrie News
- ➤ HCA Healthcare Long Point ER is set to open in June to provide 24/7 emergency services, HCA Healthcare Charleston President Jeff Wilson announced at the Mount Pleasant Chamber of Commerce Luncheon. The new facility will deliver quality care from board-certified staff. Moultrie News
