Coastal Community Foundation announced that applications are open for faith-based organizations to receive grants from its new fund, thanks to a $500,000 investment from Boeing—supporting afterschool education, financial literacy, healthcare access and grocery support.

Grants averaging $5,000 are available to state-registered charities until June 1 and selections will be announced in December.

The Charleston Police Department released new details on a fatal auto-pedestrian collision that occurred Wednesday morning at around 6:15 a.m. on Savannah Highway near Skylark Drive — a Toyota sedan traveling northbound struck a pedestrian attempting to cross — and officers are asking witnesses with useful information to come forward.
