- ➤ The Rotary Club of Mount Pleasant and Lighthouse Keepers have announced the Bikes for Africa bike collection drive to gather donated bikes that will support mobility in African communities. It will be held May 2 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Harris Teeter parking lot (920 Houston Northcutt Blvd) in Mount Pleasant. Moultrie News

- ➤ South Carolina gas prices rose 1.6 cents to $3.79 per gallon on Monday, with rates 42.2 cents higher than last month, and analysts warn a full blockade of the Strait of Hormuz may trigger another jump later this week. WCIV

- ➤ Lucy Beckham's Graham Zeppernick earned a Gold Medal in the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards and will travel to New York in June for a Carnegie Hall celebration — Charleston County School of the Arts' Niamh Carmichael received the YoungArts Award and will get a $12,500 scholarship on June 10. - ➤ The Army Corps of Engineers is almost done renourishing the southern beach at Isle of Palms after pumping 700,000 cubic yards of sand and will clear a clay mix from the sands next week—efforts that protect nearby homes and curb erosion. WCIV

- ➤ Patients who need advanced breast imaging but cannot safely have an MRI can now receive contrast-enhanced mammography at MUSC Health’s West Ashley Medical Pavilion, which uses an IV dye to highlight differences in breast tissue.
