- ➤ On March 25, Tim Tyler joined the Rotary Club of Mount Pleasant after being chosen by President Ken Tallmadge for his leadership and compassion (as noted at the swearing-in ceremony). He will attend club meetings and support humanitarian projects. Moultrie News

- ➤ The Wando Mount Pleasant Public Library will host its Language and Culture Club meeting on April 14 at 6 p.m. where community members share languages and cultural traditions. Moultrie News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ South Carolina Treasurer Curtis Loftis recognized William Joy (a former corporate marketer) of Lucy Beckham High School as March’s Educator of the Month for the South Carolina Financial Literacy Master Teacher Program. He was honored for using his business expertise to expand financial literacy and engage fellow educators statewide. Moultrie News
- ➤ CCSD leaders and Early College High School Principal Barrett Reese dedicated the new Fraser Campus Support Building on March 27, 2026 at the school’s stepatorium. Officials (including Councilmember Aaron T. Polkey and Superintendent Anita Huggins) praised the facility for its role in supporting student growth. Charleston County School District
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ A statewide outdoor burn ban began yesterday at 4:00 p.m. restricting yard debris burns, campfires, bonfires and prescribed burns—only contained cooking fires are allowed—while today a National Weather Service fire weather watch remains active across all counties to alert residents of wildfire risks amid dry, windy conditions.
