- ➤ Executive Director Kevin Brokes of East Cooper Habitat for Humanity said at a Rotary Club meeting on March 19 that the nonprofit has purchased land near Wando High School to build new homes in Mount Pleasant for low-income residents. The new builds—targeting families earning under $30,000 a year and requiring 350 hours of volunteer work—will start once permitting is complete, though delays may occur. Moultrie News

- ➤ GasBuddy data shows that gas prices in South Carolina rose 4.9 cents in the last week to average $2.72 per gallon, while the national price went up 6.3 cents to about $3.08 per gallon. - ➤ Wando High School Student Media earned top honors at the 2025 Southern Interscholastic Press Association (SIPA) when its yearbook Legend won the Scroggins Award for the second time and Best in Show while its student news magazine Tribal Tribune also earned a top honor. - ➤ Dr. Christopher Selby, strings director at Charleston County School of the Arts, led the SOA Symphony Orchestra to win international awards and received the Elizabeth A. H. Green Award on March 21 for his transformative work in music education. His leadership also helped secure invitations to perform at national events like the International Midwest Clinic in Chicago and top placements at recent music festivals.
