  • Ellie Schaub of Lowcountry Adaptive Fitness helped neurodivergent clients build confidence during her Feb. 25 talk at the Rotary Club of Mount Pleasant and is planning group classes at local gyms; her approach uses small, practical steps — like doing 20 pushups — to empower participants.  Moultrie News

  • Charleston AMA and AAF announced finalists for the Spark + American Advertising Awards, highlighting the top local creative talent in marketing. Winners will be revealed on March 12 from 6 to 9 p.m. at The Harbor Entrepreneur Center in Mount Pleasant.  Moultrie News
  • Charleston’s Caliente Ballroom has opened its 4,200 sqft studio at 1116 Graddick Road in Mount Pleasant, offering classes, private lessons, and workshops. The state-of-the-art space features premium beech wood floors imported from Denmark — inviting local dancers to register for spring sessions.  Moultrie News

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Truist awarded a $400,000 grant to Coastal Community Foundation to boost its Place-Based Impact Investing program — supporting affordable housing and small business lending — and the program has funded over $6 million in local projects, with CCF planning to expand its fund further.  Moultrie News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On March 4, the SC Court of Appeals rejected Oyster Park Apartments’ appeal of a 2022 verdict, upholding a $1 million award to a mother and daughter who suffered black mold exposure at the 1421 Shucker Circle complex in 2017. Management later remediated the mold.  The Post and Courier
  • Bill 862 (the proposed measure) remains in committee at the State House as senators debate giving parents temporary authority to make treatment decisions for their adult children during a mental health emergency; advocates say it fills a needed gap while some senators worry about due process rights.  WCIV

  • Retirees Jim Riley and his wife are leaving their 3400 sqft Park West home for a smaller, single-level house in the Del Webb community in Point Hope to cut upkeep and gain time. A study shows selling a larger home often covers buying a smaller one — a challenging trend.  WCIV
