  • PalmettoPride’s 2026 SC Sweep campaign will begin March 21 (10-day statewide litter cleanups) inviting residents, families, schools and local groups to pick up litter and boost neighborhood pride.  WCIV
  • The Mount Pleasant Chamber and Town are hosting the fifth annual Get Fit Where You Live campaign, which began March 4 and runs through April 1, inviting residents to support local wellness centers and win weekly $50 gift cards via Instagram.  Moultrie News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Ohm Radio 96.3 FM will partner with Awendaw Green to host a special OHM Jam during Barn Jam on March 18 in Awendaw, featuring live remote coverage by Carson Brunson + performances by local acts at set times throughout the evening.  Moultrie News
  • The Charleston Wine + Food Festival marks 20 years today with signature events beginning Friday that are expected to bring visitors to local restaurants and hotels—from downtown to Mount Pleasant.   • Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum marks 50 years with Member Appreciation Month in March, offering $10 off membership and events including guided USS Yorktown tours and a Sunset Salute on March 26 (5:30 to 7:30 p.m.).  Moultrie News

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Iranian threats near Hormuz have pushed gas prices up by 50 cents overnight in Summerville, and experts say longer shipping routes could delay product deliveries at the Port of Charleston in the coming weeks.  WCIV

  • Close to 20 schools from CCSD and surrounding areas showcased STEM robotics at the 16th Annual SeaPerch Challenge on Feb. 25 at North Charleston Sports Complex. Winners advanced to the international event set for May 30 at University of Maryland (College Park).  Charleston County School District
  • Tensions flared on Wednesday during the Charleston County School Board meeting as trustees debated Education Foundation nominees amid concerns over transparency and community input. A follow-up meeting is set for Monday, March 9 at 4:30 p.m. at district headquarters to continue the discussion.  WCIV
