COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Lowcountry Land Trust received a $1 million donation from Boeing that moves Angel Oak Preserve closer to opening. The 44-acre community forest, nominated for the National Register, will use the gift to speed up plans for its living museum of conservation.  WCIV
  • Scouts and volunteer leaders from across the Etiwan District gathered on Feb. 12 in Mount Pleasant to celebrate 2025 achievements at a district banquet. The event honored awards for leadership, outdoor skills and community service — and set goals for the coming year.  Moultrie News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Multiple ABC News 4 team members have been nominated for the Best of Charleston awards with nominees including Tessa Spencer, Sonya Stevens, Dave Williams, and Scott Eisberg, and voting remains open until March 8.  WCIV
  • The musical & Juliet plays at the North Charleston Coliseum and Performing Arts Center today through Feb. 22 as part of the Best of Broadway season. Tickets are on sale with group discounts for school trips, family outings, or community groups.  WCIV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Citadel's presidential search committee named four finalists for its next president on Monday. Further interviews will be held in the coming weeks, and one candidate will be chosen to succeed President Glenn Walters when he retires on June 30.  WCIV
  • Charleston County School District is accepting applications from community organizations to become approved sites for its 2026 free summer meals program. The program will serve free breakfast and lunch to children and teens from Monday, June 1 through Friday, July 24 with a site application deadline of Friday, April 3.  Charleston County School District

HEALTH NEWS

  • MUSC Health specialists explained that LATE dementia affects over 10 percent of those 65+ and one-third of those 85+, with new guidelines helping doctors tell it apart from Alzheimer’s (which moves faster). Neurologist Nicholas Milano said research now aims to develop treatments targeting the brain’s changes.  Moultrie News

  • On Sunday, Christian Reeves had 18+15 for Charleston to secure a 62-57 win over Campbell, and both teams will face new opponents on Thursday.  WCIV
