- ➤ The Southeastern Wildlife Exposition kicks off today downtown with wildlife exhibits, art displays and conservation demos, set to boost tourism and generate $33 to $35 million for the local economy. Organizers expect thousands from near and afar to energize the three-day event. WCIV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Wando High School senior Noah Iverson was named the 2026 South Carolina Scholastic Journalist of the Year by the SC Scholastic Press Association and JEA on Feb. 12. He will travel to Minneapolis in April with his family and adviser Phillip Caston to compete for a national honor. Charleston County School District
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources is holding its 11th annual Baltimore Oriole Winter Survey and asks Lowcountry residents to join the Great Backyard Bird Count from Feb. 13 to Feb. 16 by reporting oriole sightings from their birdfeeders. WCIV
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Deeper Healing Medical Wellness Center in Charleston has introduced Exomind, an FDA-cleared 30-minute brain stimulation therapy for treatment-resistant depression under Dr. Kelly Holes-Lewis’s guidance. The treatment uses patented ExoTMS (a new version of TMS) and early data shows many patients report feeling better after three months. Moultrie News
- ➤ The SC Department of Public Health confirmed 11 additional winter storm-related deaths, raising the state's toll to 17 from incidents that occurred from Jan. 25 to Feb. 3. WCIV
