- ➤ The Town and Chamber have kicked off the fifth annual Dine Where You Live campaign — a month-long effort that began Feb. 1 to support local eateries; residents can win weekly $50 gift card prizes by following the Chamber on Instagram and tagging a business and two friends. Moultrie News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office and School District have launched a monthly program highlighting elementary student leadership and School Resource Officers (SRO). Each month, a designated officer will work with a principal to honor a student at schools such as E.B. Ellington Elementary beginning February. Charleston County School District
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The weekend’s snow dusting left ice risks on secondary roads and led schools to shift to online learning while government offices opened at noon on Feb.2; officials advised careful driving as temperatures dipped near 20 degrees and further refreezing was possible. The Post and Courier
- ➤ Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott announced the department will now use the Struggle Well program—which trains deputies and uses crisis intervention dog CJ to help manage stress—to improve mental health. The program was adopted after Senior Deputy Derek Fish died in 2017 and now trains 20 deputies every two months. Moultrie News
