- ➤ The Charleston Boat Show will display over 200 watercraft at the Charleston Area Convention Center Complex from Jan. 23—25 with live music, kids fishing clinics, and food trucks, and tickets cost $15 for adults and $7 for children ages 4 to 12; free parking is available on site. Moultrie News
- ➤ Emergency crews rescued Banjo, a family dog trapped in pluff mud between Mount Pleasant and Isle of Palms on Jan. 5, 2026. The rescue involved a police drone + fan boat after the pet jumped its owner’s fence. The Post and Courier
- ➤ Mount Pleasant Rotarian Ben Knight was honored with his first Paul Harris Fellow award for his service as he works at Viking Mergers & Acquisitions and serves on the Chamber Board while planning the Expo with input from former club president Lou Mello. Moultrie News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Charleston County School District launched its School Choice and Early Learning applications yesterday at 12:00 p.m. for the 2026-2027 school year; School Choice submissions close February 12 at noon and Early Learning remains open until October 2. Charleston County School District
- ➤ CCSD opened applications for Pre-K/Child Development, Head Start and Early Head Start programs on Jan. 7 at noon on its website. Families could apply online or call the Early Learning Department for a paper form. Charleston County School District
