About this event

Footlight Players invites you to experience A Holy City Haunting, a brand-new original theatrical work written and created by Meghan Lowther in collaboration with Footlight Players, making its world premiere at the historic Queen Street Playhouse.

In this atmospheric and immersive evening of storytelling, five actors bring to life the chilling legends and restless spirits of Charleston's haunted past, with a special focus on the real locations and ghostly encounters surrounding the very theatre where you're seated. From the mysterious woman in red said to haunt the Dock Street Theatre to the whistling ghost of Philadelphia Alley and the notorious Lavinia Fisher, these stories of love, betrayal, tragedy, and revenge reveal the darker side of the Holy City's history.

But this isn't your ordinary ghost story.

Through dramatic performances, unexpected encounters, theatrical special effects, and moments of dark humor, the ghosts of Charleston step out of the shadows and onto the stage. And with some of these hauntings taking place just steps from Queen Street Playhouse, you may find yourself wondering what—or who—might still be lurking nearby.

A SPIRITED THEATRICAL EXPERIENCE

The evening isn't just about ghostly spirits. There are a few of the liquid variety, too.

Throughout the performance, guests will enjoy two specially crafted cocktails and one novelty drink experience, each thoughtfully paired with particular ghosts, stories, and dramatic moments in the production.

These aren't simply drinks served alongside the show. They're part of the storytelling, designed to enhance the atmosphere, surprise the audience, and bring an additional dimension to this one-of-a-kind theatrical event.

One historic city. Five actors. Restless spirits. And a few drinks with the dearly departed.

Join us for the world premiere of A Holy City Haunting, where Charleston's haunted history comes alive, the spirits are flowing, and some stories simply refuse to stay buried.
